Application Packaging & Image Management Consultant.

Warrington.

12 Months.

£250 - £300 per day.

One of our key clients are looking for an Application Packaging & Image Management Consultant to join the team on a long running programme of work.

Key Responsibilities:

To help manage growing volumes of software for desktop and server systems efficiently. By streamlining software configuration and deployment using industry standard best practices and tools required for implementing application packaging and imaging techniques across the estate.

*As part of the Software Lifecycle Services Packaging team, create, trouble shoot and support EXE, MSI, APPv and ThinApp application packages;

*Perform all phases of Software Packaging, including requirements analysis, Package design, development and testing;

*Interfaces with multiple IT teams to clarify and quantify requirements;

*Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving overall performance;

*Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and recommend solutions as required

*Assists on projects involving complex interfaces and interdependencies between systems and also integrating multiple solutions;

*Review, suggest and implement new systems design changes;

*Prepare documentation of all procedures for image creation and support documentation;

*Responsible for creation and deployment of OS Images and also for Trouble shooting;

*Create custom scripts for gathering the inventory from clients;

*Providing operating system, application and hardware testing support. Write, follow and submit test plans. Recommend go / no-go status, based on test output results;

*Participate in reasonable BAU Operational support and Projects delivery work as instructed by the Line Manager;

*Provide Microsoft Group Policy support for creation, modification, and deletion.

Key Skills & Experience:

*Significant expertise in VBScript or PowerShell for automating daily system administration tasks.

*Quantifiable knowledge in application packaging and application virtualization in tools like Admin Studio, Altiris Wise and Microsoft AppV.

*Knowledge and understanding of other OS Deployment solutions (LAN Desk preferred) / Altiris will be a significant advantage.

*Is able to independently handle all test and release of Applications and Patches.

*Significant quantifiable experience of using appropriate Application Packaging and image deployment tools.

*Quantifiable extensive hands-on experience of using appropriate Operating System Deployments tools - Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or SCCM OSD.

*Knowledge in MS System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM 2007/2012).

*Significant quantifiable knowledge in Software distribution and Patch Management.

*Significant knowledge of how to trouble shoot Group Policy support for creation, modification, and deletion and issues on clients and server.

*In-depth working knowledge of Windows operating systems, including Client(7/8/10) and Server OS(2008/2012).
