Infrastructure Engineer - London - up to £55kpa

My client a professions regulator are currently going through a period of change and are looking to expand their IT infrastructure team with an Infrastructure Engineer.

As part of the Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining all aspects of the Information Technology Infrastructure, to ensure consistent and repeatable services through the application of common processes and procedures.

As an Infrastructure Engineer your main duties will be, but not limited to:

*Perform the role of Technical Lead for major projects

*Support the UAT phase of major projects

*To be acknowledged as expert for IT Network, Database and Systems Services

*Support the design development and operation of Capacity, Availability (security), IT Continuity and Problem Management processes for Network, Database and System Infrastructure.

*Understand the information security requirements for information accessed or processed in carrying out the duties of the role, treating the information with appropriate care as set out in the Information Classification and Handling Policy.

*Provide cover to the Service Desk when needed

*Meet service level targets for Incident and Problem management closure

*Maintain Configuration information relevant to network (LAN, WAN, VPN), server and database infrastructure

*Create policies and procedures relevant to the support and maintenance of the network (LAN, WAN, VPN), servers and databases

*Support the Service Support team in maintaining the physical asset register for network (LAN, WAN, VPN) and server assets

*Operate ITIL processes and procedures for the effective Capacity and Availability (Security) management of the network (LAN, WAN, VPN), server and database infrastructure. Maintain the Capacity plan and achieve the Service Level targets for Capacity and Availability

*As part of an effective Security strategy operate and manage a patching policy for all IT infrastructure including servers, PCs and applications

*Ensure that the IT infrastructure is secure from external and internal attack through monitoring, testing and following best practice to reduce the risk of any security incident

*Provide support and database administration functions for both Oracle and MS-SQL Server databases

*Provide 3rd line support and administration functions for the Business Applications used

To be successful in this role you will have any of the following:

*Extensive Public Cloud Experience/Skills - preferably MS Azure

*Extensive Network/Security Experience/Skills

*Extensive OS/App Experience/Skills - A good combination of Microsoft Windows Sever & Linux/Unix(Solaris and Oracle DB) & MS SQL Server/SharePoint/Dynamics CRM(On-prem and in the cloud)
