A Contract Work Package manager is required to support the Project Assurance team in managing the allocation of team resource to the current and future portfolio of projects.

Purpose

* We are seeking to separate out some of the tasks that have to be carried out in Project Assurance to enable key resource to concentrate on the Assurance task. One of the critical roles to be split out is the one of Contract Work Package Management.

* This enables Task Identification, Estimation, Resource Identification and planning to be carried out by a dedicated individual. Principal Accountabilities

* The individual must liaise with Programme Managers to understand the forward plan of projects in their programmes, with the aim of getting an understanding of the type and complexity of work to be carried out.

* The individual must then present the forward plan back to the department management team for them to understand that forward plan to enable suitable business planning to be carried out.

* As programmes start the process of kicking off specific projects, the CWPM will assist the projects in determining what template plans for assurance are available to carry out a high level planning exercise to enable the project to have sufficient information to make the case to commence work.

* Inform department management of high level resource requirements for individual projects as the information emerges.

* Update standard plan templates on an ongoing basis to assist in the future planning of projects based on real world knowledge.

* Work with assurance managers once appointed to project to understand the underlying assumptions to the plan.

* Work with the project assurance manager to modify plans where that becomes necessary

* Provide plan metrics to project and programme managers as requested, through working with the project assurance manager.

* Assist the project assurance managers by helping them identify risks and opportunities and document them appropriately.

* Liaise with Project and Programme Managers to develop a clearer understanding of department work-load in the near and longer-term.

* Work with Assurance team to develop a more effective means of estimating required level of effort against future demand

* Skills

* Ability to build a close working relationship with stakeholders, and manage their expectations.

* Experience of engineering lifecycles and other established engineering practices (such as waterfall, 'V' model, SMF (Service Management Framework) including ITIL would be an advantage.

* Experience of Earned Value management would be an advantage.

* Experience of working with SAP and Microsoft Project.

* Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.

* Must have good interpersonal communication and management skills.

* Knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures and ITIL desirable but not essential.

* Knowledge of Air Traffic Management Systems or exposure to safety and assurance processes is desirable but not essential.

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint.

* Good written and verbal communication skills.

* Good at working with stakeholders and handling conflict resolution.

* Adaptable and has a proactive approach to work.

* Resourceful, confident and takes the initiative.

* Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
