Senior Computer Vision Engineer

The Role
Our client is looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to join their algorithm development team in Lewes.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering novel solutions to vision-based processing problems for commercial applications and the enthusiasm to push themselves further.
As a Senior Computer Vision Engineer, you will help our client to deliver state-of-the-art software to an exciting, growing industry from within a vibrant and multinational team.
Your role will cover:
- The research and development of computer vision algorithms (MATLAB and C/C++)
- Topics include 3D structure from motion, camera calibration, and object detection and tracking algorithms
- Prototyping and implementation in simulation tools followed by porting to embedded environments
- Continual improvement of algorithms through automated and live testing in vehicles
- Ensuring the quality of the delivered software
- Interacting with team members across multiple sites
About You
To be considered, you’ll need:
- At least five years’ experience of developing computer vision algorithms for commercial applications
- Advanced MATLAB and C/C++ programming skills
- Experience of source control systems (Git) and bug tracking (Jira)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- A degree level qualification, ideally MSc or PhD, in computer science, engineering, maths or physics
Experience of the following would be an advantage: Agile development practices and automated build systems, embedded devices such as ARM processors and automotive industry standards such as ASPICE/MISRA.
About the Company
Our client is a leading multi-national Tier1 automotive company which develops a broad range of products including tyres, powertrains, safety and infotainment systems. This role is within the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) business group at their R&D site in Lewes, UK, which includes around 90 highly skilled and internationally diverse scientists, engineers and computer vision experts.
As part of our client’s vision 2025 for fully autonomous driving, they are developing assisted driving technologies, such as automated parking and emergency braking. They analyse video streams from multiple cameras around the vehicle to create a 360 degree scene understanding, using techniques such as geometrical computer vision (Camera Calibration, Structure from Motion) and Machine Learning.
