Vehicle Control Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Senior or Principal Control Engineer to join our advanced technology business. In this position the work carried out will include the design of control systems, both from a 'clean sheet of paper' as well as the development of existing systems. This will involve interfacing with electronic hardware and vehicle component systems engineers.

Key responsibilities:

Development of control systems for the purpose of controlling automotive dynamic systems (e.g. engine management, gearbox, conventional drive-train control, hybrid electric drive-trains and vehicle dynamics)

Technical tasks would include:

1 computer simulation

2 control system specification (including sensor & actuator selection, and electrical interfacing)

3 vehicle commissioning,

4 control strategy development & implementation,

5 calibration development.

Project requirements would include:

1 workload planning and organisation

2 liaising with other departments and clients.

Ideal Candidate

1 Degree in engineering, mechanical, mechatronics or similar

2 Previous experience in Control Engineering

Experience in some of the following areas is required :

1 Knowledge of control systems and simulation techniques

2 Understanding of calibration and mechatronics

3 Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink

4 Knowledge of embedded software development using 'C' / C++

5 Knowledge of embedded software development using assembler

6 Experience of programming and scripting languages

7 Experience of real-time programming

8 Programming in the MS Windows environment

9 A knowledge of typical automotive control systems. e.g. engine management / ABS / clutch / gearbox / chassis systems / hybrid electric vehicles

10 An interest in / knowledge of automotive engineering

11 ·A practical approach to solving real-world problems
