Job Purpose

You'll be working, to develop, and manage the development of our digital products. To help lead the technical design and thinking on the digital team. You'll also manage and mentor junior members of the team. The primary task will be leading the technical design of our Javascript application and analysis of requirements and designs at a detailed level to define and build robust solutions that meet the requirements of users and the business. Other duties include:

*Development, documentation and testing of quality code that follows well defined development standards and ensuring that individual deliverables are tested and function as specified.

*Defining and agreeing standards for development from code to source control, release and deployment.

*Ensuring that digital products are resilient, scalable and tuned for performance.

*Working with other senior developers to ensure consistency across our development platforms

*Organising design and code reviews, identifying issues or improvements in methodologies and standards and lead their resolution.

*Contributing to the team plan and estimating resource

*Line managing, supporting, mentoring and coaching junior members of the team to meet their agreed objectives and quality goals

*Support the team in keeping up to date with relevant industry and technical knowledge, where it is relevant to developing our digital capabilities.

*Deputise for the Head of Digital where appropriate

*Identify and deliver continuous improvement for our digital services, agreeing product roadmaps with heads

*Ensure that our digital services product are user focused, have clear purpose and meet the requirements of the business

*Ensure our digital services perform against key metrics

*Champion the work of the digital team internally and externally

*Clearly communicate deadlines, releases, exceptions and progress

Essential skills

*Javascript - Exceptional skills in designing and building JavaScript applications using

frameworks such as JQuery, Angular etc

*HTML, CSS, Sass - Excellent knowledge of cross platform modern web development

*UX & design - A good understanding of user centred design

*Accessibility - A focus on ensuring that platforms are accessible to everyone

*Data/Analytics - A solid understanding of using data to measure the success of our platforms

*Management - Experience managing across teams and managing expectations through effective communication with internal and external customers

*Excellent communication skills - to deal with people at different levels throughout the business

*Great analytical and problem solving skills - to translate business problems into technical solutions

*Excellent planning and organisational skills - the ability to work to tight deadlines and to develop technical solutions in a fast moving team environment

*Agile & Lean - Experience of delivering large user focused websites using agile & lean methodologies
