Application Support Developer- 12 Months.

The client is looking for someone to support a portfolio of applications to run on a combination on UNIX/AIX/Linux/Wintel servers. The UNIX team provides infrastructure deployment, development, support and project services for UNIX and Linux systems plus Storage Area Networks (SAN) systems. The work performed by the team includes the handling of incidents (faults) and RFS work instructions (primarily to install, configure or decommission servers and/or SAN storage).Involvement in UNIX and Linux server, or SAN storage related projects and the flexibility to undertake out of hours work is expected.

Key responsibilities include:

* To work within the UNIX Support Team providing strong technical assistance for the implementation and support of UNIX and Linux Servers and SAN storage technologies

* Troubleshooting faults that may occur within our clients UNIX and Linux servers and SAN storage environments

* Participation in root cause analysis of problems identified

* Technical consultation on UNIX and SAN related projects

* Undertake preventative maintenance tasks on UNIX systems and SAN storage systems

* Liaising with project managers and customers with regard to project work

* Liaising with external support suppliers and application vendors with regard to project work.

Technical Business Skills:-

Pre Requisites:

* Working knowledge of UNIX and/or Linux server operating systems

* Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Advantageous:

* UNIX or Linux build, installation and administration experience
