Description for Senior DevOps Engineer
A DevOps Engineer is required for a leading technology company in their modern Oxford offices. The DevOps Engineer will play a key role within our DevOps team and will be involved in working as part of a collaborative agile team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced operations environment and to develop your career in Cloud technologies, particularly Amazon Web Services.
The DevOps Engineer’s primary objective will be to provide support to Amazon Web Services hosted environment, ensure continuous 24/365 availability, working with 3rd Party resources to ensure best value for money, and effective resource management across the team.

The DevOps Engineer will have the following Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Configuring, deploying and supporting Cloud based solutions
Developing and improving monitoring and infrastructure automation
Participate in the creation and maintenance of the systems that build, configure, deploy, and test our applications
Technical design, development, release and deployment of AWS infrastructure and VTW applications, using CICD
Participate in the creation and maintenance of the systems that build, configure, deploy, and test our applications
Work with the Support team to troubleshoot, diagnose and rectify system service issues
Providing 2nd/3rd level support for Cloud and DC hosted solutions
The DevOps Engineer will have the following Key Skills and Experience:
If you have the following essential skills we would like to hear from you:
Solid experience of working in complex Technology environments
In-depth knowledge and experience of deploying, configuring and supporting Linux & Windows systems
Demonstrable knowledge and expertise of 24 x 7 operational support of Public Cloud platforms e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure
Experience of deploying AWS Cloud infrastructure using (HashiCorp) Packer, Terraform, Jenkins
Version Control Systems - GIT, GitHub
Configuration Management of Linux and Windows systems using Puppet & Docker
Tomcat & Apache
Proven knowledge and skills in Open Source technologies
Understanding and experience of configuring and troubleshooting interfaces to the following databases: Oracle, SQL, MySQL and/or Mongo DB, DynamoDb
ELK - ElasticSearch, Logstash and Kibana
Understanding and experience of configuring and troubleshooting interfaces to the following network technologies: Load Balancers, Firewalls, Routing, DMZs
Understanding and experience of working with, configuring and troubleshooting of the following Enterprise IT infrastructure and concepts: PCI compliance, Enterprise Security, IT Service Management (ITIL, Service Desks, 24/7 Support, service monitoring, reporting and alerting), Virtual Computing (VMWare), Docker
Agile development methodology -SCRUM or Kanban
The DevOps Engineer will have the following Desirable skills:
AWS certifications
Experience of cloud migration activities either Public or Private
Hands on experience of implementing infrastructure and service based monitoring solutions
A good understanding of the security controls required to host applications and services in the cloud
A good understanding of release management techniques within a cloud hosted environment
Consider performance, scalability, and reliability in all decision making
Monitor and manage system performance, including auto scaling based on various parameters e.g. Queue Depth, CPU etc
Technical design, development, release and deployment of AWS infrastructure and organisation applications, using CICD
Source code version control systems, e.g. GitHub
Project Management (PRINCE2 and Agile)
