User Researcher - Discovery Projects - Blackpool - 6 Months Contract up to £550per day

Working as part of a Discovery team, looking at a service redesign for working benefit systems. Conducting Discovery into the user needs of citizens and operational staff and take this through Alpha.

Work must follow GDS Service Manual guidance and be in line with Digital Service Standard, Technology Code of Practice, Market Research Society Code of Conduct and EU Services Directive. Responsibilities

* Planning, designing and conducting usability testing sessions

* Leading the usability testing process from recruitment through to test moderation, analysis and communicating insights

* User requirements gathering and early stage concept and prototype testing, guerrilla research

* Working closely with designers and developers to turn user data into actionable requirements that feed into prototype development, and influence product direction

* Designing, scripting and analysing ad-hoc quantitative surveys

* Applying knowledge in human factors, ethnography, and the user-centred design process to in an iterative development environment

* Presenting findings and related design/business recommendations and customer insights to senior decision makers

* Championing accessibility

Essential skills

* GDS experience (essential) with discovery projects (beneficial)

* Creation of research and test plans

* Experience of designing user journeys

* Ability to understand and articulate user needs

* Strong experience in guerrilla testing and formal testing (usability)

* Experience with stakeholder management - i.e. playback sessions

* Ability to work with data teams including scientists/engineers

* Any service design experience is a bonus
