I am working in partnership with a global enterprise in Central Manchester who are looking to add experienced Senior Software Engineers to their existing development function.

They have a brand new state-of-the-art HQ, something of a 'digital innovation hub' and these hires are part of a company-wide Agile transformation project as they look to modernise and innovate in a consistently competitive market.

In terms of technology, these roles will sit within a long-standing area of the business but will have that 'new feel' - i.e. you won't be expected to work on ancient legacy code.

This department is going through an enormous re-vamp of their application stack and the core focus of these roles will be greenfield product development using the Java EE stack.

Moeover, these roles are hybrid by nature, mixing core programming responsibilities with wider duties including mentoring, coaching, technical leadership and architectural input.

Fundamentally, this organisation believes in giving their Software Engineers autonomy and creative control, encouraging autonomy and giving you the opportunity to bring ideas to the table, rather than sitting there and being crushed by the weight of micro-management.

But enough about them... this advert is all about you. Specifically, what you will need to know should you be interested in applying:

Greenfield Product Development - A background in a product-focused role would be ideal as this position will involve working on greenfield development for their internal systems/applications. Experience working on Enterprise-scale products would be even better.

Technical Knowledge - They work with a range of technologies with a specific focus on the Java EE tech stack and languages/frameworks including Spring MVC, J2EE, PHP, Python and JavaScript (AngularJS, ReactJS). Exposure to MySQL and Oracle would also be highly beneficial.

Agile/Scrum - They operate an Agile environment with a focus on Scrum/Kanban. Previous experience utilising Agile development methodologies is therefore crucial to be considered for this role. Wider knowledge of Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development would also be a nice little add-on.

Stakeholder Management - Although they aren't a Consultancy or MSP, this role will involve occasionally liaising with internal stakeholders over a range of technical and non-technical issues. Excellent communication skills are therefore crucial.

In return for demonstrating some (hopefully all!) of the above, you will benefit from a highly competitive salary alongside a flexible benefits package including a company bonus scheme, 10% pension, 25 days holiday and private healthcare. Moreover, their office location has that 'start-up feel' (despite them not actually being a start-up!) and is somewhere genuinely nice to work. Makes a change from those mundane office environments.

So if you are genuinely sitting at work contemplating your next career move or simply fancy a chat to learn more about this role then give me a shout. You can call me on either 0191 338 7540 or 07943721308. Alternatively, if you are unable to chat then send me an email to [email protected].

Anything discussed will be kept completely confidential.
