ROLE: SENIOR LINUX ENGINEER

RATE: EUR55-60 P/H

LOCATION: LA SPEZIA

DURATION: 6 MONTHS

JOB SUMMARY:

The position is for a senior member of the team highly skilled IT engineer providing tier 3 supports and solutions that enable engineering community to quickly adapt to the dynamic business needs.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Maintain daily operation and problem resolution of Linux systems on the networks, performing system administration duties and responsibilities, including account monitoring, security, Operating System (OS)installation, and other local area network system administration related functions.

*Maintain and monitor the availability and performance of Linux systems

*Support on development and implementation plans as a continuous process for the integration of new server, client software and providing technical advice on new requirements.

*Implementation for deployment of baseline configurations

*Capture user requirements and translate them into a technical requirement.

*Implementation of approved configuration changes

*Ensure the compliance of Software Updates for all Linux servers and report the status of compliancy of Linux clients. Implement in a timely fashion all security Bulletins specifically for Linux vulnerabilities

*Identify single point of failure or other concerns to prevent host or terminal isolations.

*Provide Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) updates

BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

*8 to 10+ years' deploying, configuring and managing solutions of Linux/UNIX systems in a in a large environment

*Solid time management skills with the ability to plan and implement multiple initiatives and deadline-driven workloads.

*Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter and self-motivated professional. Excellent teamwork skills.

*Experience with management and operational use of systems monitoring tools and configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Satellite)

*Distribution administrative tasks and RPM repository

*Advanced enterprise level skills in shell scripting and programming (Python, Bash, Ruby, Korn, Pearl)

*Advanced server protocols and utilities (DNS, SMTP, S/FTP, TCP/IP UDP, SSH, Samba SSL, TCPwrapper,nmap, COPS, Tripwire)

*Strong understanding of network services (DNS, HTTP, SNMP) and familiarity with TCP/IP and VLAN functionality

*Integration of Linux Service in larger enterprise environment (Centrify, AD, LDAP, Network, etc.)

*Experience with repository management solutions such as Git

*Debugging traffic flows from Linux Based systems

*Proficient in orchestration on workflow automation and development.

*Ability to analyse problems and determine root cause, evaluating and selecting alternatives and implementing solutions.

* Security hardening and patching

* Ability to automate solutions to repetitive problems/tasks

* Knowledge of ITIL change managements and problem management best practices.

* Certifications: RHCE or higher

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

* Previous experience deploying in Amazon Web Services.

* Extensive experience working with SolarWinds monitoring tools

* Extensive experience working with VMware virtualization infrastructure

* Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)

* Experience with PXE booting Linux Based OS installs

* Experience working with agile development teams and DevOps

* Active Directory

* Master degree preferred
