Mechanical Engineer - Bristol

A market leading FTSE 100 Defence organisation is currently recruiting for an Mechanical Engineers to take on permanent positions ASAP. The primary purpose of the post is to conduct and deliver tasks associated with Availability, Reliability, Maintainability and Review of Maintenance (ARM&ROM) outputs in accordance with the Maritime Delivery Framework Annual Plan.

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows:

* Identify discrepancies within the UMMS Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) database relating to each specific Rolling Review, utilising knowledge of the systems/equipment concerned and RCM process requirements.

* Present results of the Rolling Reviews at the relevant Stakeholder Review Meetings.

* Chair the Stakeholder Review Meetings with the DA, ISM Maintenance Cell, Equipment Project Teams, MMSG, MOD technical experts and Original OEMs to discuss and agree maintenance changes and where necessary allocate actions in connection with the review of Vanguard, Trafalgar and Astute Class maintenance.

* Perform Asset Linking approvals within UMMS in support of maintenance changes carried out under the F11 Process and /or stand-alone MMSG Customer Tasking Form.

* Co-ordinate the update of the RCM study in the UMMS RCM database based on changes required by the DA.

* Prepare technical reports, as required, based on the maintenance review conducted, detailing proposed changes to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of the relevant maintenance schedules, fully substantiating all proposals.

* Evaluate submarine RCM studies prepared for ISM by MMSG via third party organisations and obtain DA technical approval for the RCM (through life) maintenance schedule recommendations.

* Address queries and comments raised by ISM, Royal Navy, etc., relating to the UMMS maintenance schedule. Prepare and propose a technical response. Negotiate DA technical approval for any schedule updates required as a consequence.

* Provide support to the SSMG Review of Maintenance technical meetings with the ISM sponsor and DA.

* Provision of technical support on maintenance review and RCM aspects to other SSMG departments.

* Provide assistance with ARM or other tasks, as directed by ARM & RoM Team Leader.

* Utilise Project Management best practice in delivery of ARM&ROM Outputs as defined by the Maritime Support Delivery Framework (MSDF) Annual Plan.

The successful candidate will display the following skills, experience and qualifications:

* Foundation Degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline; OR

* Qualified to HND / BTEC Level 5 in a relevant STEM discipline may be acceptable augmented by significant experience in a relevant engineering field.

* Experience of Royal Navy submarines from a design, maintenance or operational perspective.

* Experience of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Availability, Maintainability and Reliability methodologies.

* Be proficient in the use of appropriate Project Management & IT tools (especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and MS Visio).

* Professional registration with an appropriate Engineering Institute or a working plan in place demonstrating how this will be achieved.
