Who we are:

We are a highly successful UK-based Fintech Software vendor embarking on an exciting growth journey after significant recent investment in new product and people. Over the next 12 months, the business will grow headcount and revenues significantly as our new flagship Enterprise SaaS platform releases as a unique proposition in the market.

Our current offering, the leading cloud-based Order-to-Cash Accounts Receivable suite, enables Enterprise customers to automate processes, reduce costs and improve cash collection efficiencies resulting in increased cash flow. Our SaaS platform enables customers to get paid faster by automating manual and time-consuming tasks.

The PHP Team Lead Opportunity:

We are looking for a PHP Team Lead who has experience of managing a small team. You will be leading our new developer office in London. Our plan is to start with a team of 3-5 but we expect to grow this over the next 6-12 months. You will be in a unique position to be a major part in this growth and build a team around you.

Because this is a new office we need someone who is able to communicate clearly, bring people on a journey with them and be a bridge between the business and technical team. You will be reporting directly to the head of technical.

This is a role for someone who not only codes but is able to motivate, excite and lead a team that will work hard and deliver to timelines. Line Manager Aspects of the Role:

+ Lead a team of 3-5 software Engineers in the creation of high quality software within agreed project deadlines.

+ Be a champion for your team within Data Interconnect. Although the team may be based in London this role is key in making sure that the team are part of the business as a whole.

+ Assume a high level of ownership of all work developed by members of the team.

+ Train and integrate new team members and proactively support the continued development of existing team members

+ Build and promote a positive working environment for the team within your areas as well as other business areas you will engage with.

+ Effectively manage team members in line with company policy and procedures, including performance, development, disciplinary and conflict resolution with effective feedback.

+ Proactively report and manage upwards to management and the business, so that they are well informed of the work currently in development.

+ Implement team goals and objectives

+ Supervise, train and guide team members

+ Inspire and motivate team members

+ Be knowledgeable about each member of your team, their strengths, weaknesses and effectiveness, whilst translating each of their behaviours into clear tasks and objectives to improve their individual performance.

+ Work with the wider team to support further initiatives including Recruitment of new employees into yours and other teams within Data Interconnect.

The Developer Aspects of the Role:

+ Work with the team on maintaining all systems architecture and infrastructure, external and internal, supported by our hosting company.

+ Work methodically within our processes to help improve and maintain the highest levels of quality assurance.

+ Contribute to the development process in a proactive and responsive manner in a PHP development environment as well as mastering our current programming practices and processes.

+ Provide additional support and mentoring using any specialist skills you can bring to the team.

+ Assist with all levels of documentation, specification, design and testing.

+ Assist with peer code reviews.

+ Contribute to assisting service delivery.

+ Aid the Sales Team and Account Managers with technical queries and solutions particularly when specifying job requirements and solutions

PHP Developer Essential Development Skills & Experience

+ Language: PHP (5.6+ onwards), Typescript/Javascript, HTML(5), CSS(3), XML

+ Frameworks: Symfony 3 (or equivalent Laravel, zend etc)

+ Cloud services: AWS - specifically EC2, S3, SQS, SES & DynamoDb

+ Database: MySQL, postgres

It would also be advantageous to have a knowledge of the following: Angular (5+), Python (2.7+), Composer, CSS Bootstrap, Material design, Redis, Apache server, NoSql databases, GIT, Linux environments.

Methodologies: Agile/Kanban, TDD/BDD, Continuous integration.

Skillset: Analysis, OO design specification, Programming, Mentoring & training, Documentation

Other Skills:

+ Great motivator of people and able to lead by example

+ Understand how to get the most out of people and how teams fit together

+ Delivery of products to tight deadlines but with a focus on high quality code

+ Understanding of enterprise development vs consumer development

+ Ideally you would have worked in similar industries

+ Must have at least 2 years experience of managing a team
