Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

Our new Data Services team will transform our approach to working with and creating value from our data. A key focus for the team is the establishment of a new enterprise data platform which will enable us to provide regulatory Data as a Service (DaaS) to the energy industry. This will provide Ofgem staff and external stakeholders with the data and modern software tools that they need to exchange information, gain insight and meet their corporate responsibilities. Situated as the interface with service users, you will work alongside Subject Matter Experts and Data Engineers on the scoping and specification of software to handle regulatory data in the platform, ensuring compliance with data governance and security guidelines. It’s an in-depth, hands-on role that requires an analytically minded expert facilitator who can prioritise inclusivity and high-quality knowledge exchange, particularly between staff with regulatory interests and staff from technical disciplines.

Success will rest on your evidence-based ability to challenge the status quo and your enduring commitment to driving continuous improvement and innovation. Your data analysis, synthesis and data modelling skills will be backed by first-rate communication and partnering capability, evidenced by a strong track record of success in a collaborative team environment. We’re also looking for a high level of proficiency in SQL, Python and other relevant languages, plus a strong grasp of the principles of secure software development and data.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

Up to 30 days’ annual leave

Excellent training and development opportunities

The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits

Flexible working hours and family friendly policies

Subsidised gym and restaurant (London only)

Interest free season ticket loan.
