Faculty / Directorate

The contribution of the Information Technology and Media Services (ITMS) directorate is essential in the delivery of the corporate strategy for the university to maintain the quality of its provision and its distinctiveness. The university is continuing to make a significant investment in its IT and media services provision to ensure the delivery of a consistent, high quality IT and media services across the university.

Role

We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Desktop Services Analyst into the Desktop Services (Student Labs) team. While the key focus will be on the main duties and responsibilities, role holders will ensure that students are at the heart of every service delivery. This role will be primarily responsible for the support of Apple Mac hardware and software in student labs.

As a result this role requires a detailed technical understanding of Apple hardware and software, as well as their use in a teaching environment. Using appropriate delivery toolsets currently in use at the University. The role holder will be responsible for iOS design, software deployments, device management and guidance in use of teaching applications on Apple devices.

Although this role does require Apple technical knowledge. There will also be a requirement to work with Windows hardware and software. Having some familiarity with Linux software is also desirable.

Ideal Candidate

You will have excellent team working, communication, organisational and customer service skills. With the ability to build effective relationships with customers at all levels. In addition, you must be a strong team player who can analyse and prioritise your own and the team’s workload to meet challenging deadlines. You will be expected to be flexible and react quickly to changing priorities whilst maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.

We are organised according to ITIL best practice and would like the successful candidate to have an ITIL Foundation certificate at the start of their employment. However, if this is not available, the expectation is that we would support your training to pass this qualification within the first 12 months of employment.
