Automation Test Engineer - Contract

6 Month Contract Minimum

£350 Per Day (Negotiable dependant on experience)

We are seeking an experienced, energetic and talented Automation Test Engineer to work for a technology, product focused company based in Cardiff who lead the way globally within their market.

As an Automation Test Engineer you will work as part of an agile team working in a challenging, environment creating and maintain an automated test framework to support the execution of testing. The role will include complete testing, analysis and approval of the company's products to ensure they meet the requirements. The team is responsible for the integration, verification and validation of all aspects of the products and system solutions provided to their customers.

Job role requirements include:

Involvement in the requirements review process to evaluate and identify areas suitable for test automation.

Assist in defining the automated test strategy and provide estimates for expected coverage and scheduling to feed into test plans and the phases of test (i.e. smoke, sanity, integration, release verification and validation) Assess automation environment requirements for each project and provide information to the Test Manager in a timely manner.

Automated Functional and Non-Functional Test Case design, creation and execution.

Automated Test Environment and Test Data setup.

Provide feedback to assist in risk assessments for test and test automation tasks.

Provide automation metrics to support and feed into test and quality reports.

Work as part of a cross functional agile project team to ensure quality is driven into the

heart of the development process from requirements definition through to delivery.

Work closely with the software development team, Product Management and Customer Support Team as well as business users and Senior Management, as required.

Work to develop and improve the automated test strategy, identifying the tools required to ensure efficiency and quality.

Work with the test team members to ensure that skills are transferable throughout the team ensuring that there is a maintainable framework and enough relevant information create execute tests when necessary.

Proactively bring issues and problems to the attention of the software team; generating, proposing and implementing solutions to solve them.

Documentation and maintaining a log of all test cases and test results.

Ensure that all tests are executed and give regular feedback to the test manager on the status of quality.

Work closely with the development team to create a continuous integration environment running automated tests for each build.

Assist with manual testing when required especially where it is critical to meet tight deadlines.

Key skills and experience required:

Minimum two years' experience as an automation test engineer.

Proven experience in software verification and validation including functional, regression, scenario, load, usability, stress and performance testing.

Significant experience of integration testing of networked solutions over LAN and WAN infrastructure.

Experience of working with relational databases to retrieve data, preferably PostgreSQL

Proven experience of developing, implementing and being fully responsible for the product automated test strategies and test plans.

Knowledge of one or more scripting language (e.g. JavaScript, Python, bash shell, etc).

Experience with automated testing frameworks.

Use of tools such as Selenium, Ranorex, Jenkins, Cucumber, Java, Java Script.
