ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEER - £30000 - BASED SHEFFIELDThis company has manufactured emergency lighting and power systems for over 50 years, as well as providing LED commercial lighting, offering anything from products to a full turn-key solution of design through to install and commissioning. Equipment supplied includes in-house design and manufacture, as well as products manufactured by third party partners.
They are now seeking a disciplined and practical, electronics design engineer to help deliver new ranges of lighting products and support documentation to suit changes in the market towards smart products, wireless and internet connectivity. The role requires a high level of support to internal customers as well as working closely with suppliers, service providers and production teams.
Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be responsible for:
- The continuous development of existing electronic products through R&D activity.
- Testing and technical approval of new products and components to meet performance and compliance standards.
- Creating innovative engineering design solutions.
- Development and maintenance of technical data, including manufacturing specifications, engineering drawings, product data sheets, operations guidance and installation instructions.
- Maintaining knowledge of British Standards for product design in the emergency lighting and power sector.
- Assisting the wider Technical Team.
Some UK travel and occasional overseas travel to manufacturing partners will be required.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A minimum of HNC (preferably degree qualified) in electronic engineering or a related discipline, or significant demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Knowledge and experience in some of the following: LED lighting, emergency lighting, micro-controllers, programming in a compiled language, Linux embedded development and wireless and internet connectivity.
- Knowledge and experience of electronic schematic capture and PCB design of battery powered electronics or power supplies is highly desirable
- Be innovation driven whilst having a disciplined approach to problem solving
- Great verbal and written communications skills and the ability to deal with customers over the phone and face to face
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Able to work in a busy environment, delivering to deadlines
- A full driving licence.
