The Role:

This is an 18 month fixed term opportunity for a professional experienced in robust project management in a business transformation environment.

As a Business Transformation Project Manager within the hugely ambitious Watford 2020 Programme, you will be a key member of the Transformation Team responsible for ensuring that the Council works as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Over a two-year period, the Council has committed to transform the way the organisation operates. Following comprehensive reviews across the council, you will work as part of the team to undertake a detailed design, build and implementation process to improve services and make the best use of the technology and digital solutions available. This unique opportunity will allow you to directly contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s future operating model, utilising the capabilities developed elsewhere within the Watford 2020 programme, some of which you will retain responsibility for managing and delivering.

You will also be responsible for working with existing staff to ensure that all suggestions and ideas are harnessed and considered to ultimately improve the internal workings of the Council and the services it carries out on behalf of and for our local residents and businesses.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of local authority working and should embody the Council’s bold and progressive vision for the town and the organisation.

Advocating a data-led approach to business re-design, the successful candidate will have extensive project management experience, working constructively and collaboratively with complex services and their staff to design, build and implement improvements to specific processes and ways of working. With a PRINCE2 (or similar) qualification, all applicants should ensure that they have a strong understanding of successful project management, including risk and issue management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and the ambition to work as part of a high-performing team to deliver significant change within set timescales and budgets.

The Council’s ambition to create a ‘Digital Watford’ will require the successful candidate to have a strong understanding of digital solutions in a public sector environment and how these can be used to improve the customer journey whilst simultaneously driving efficiencies throughout an organisation.

If you are a confident, enthusiastic and dedicated pragmatist who will enjoy the challenge of working at the very heart of the organisation during a defining period, we would love to hear from you.
