Job Description

The Digital Trading & Analytics Team Leader role is a newly created global position to lead the development of digital pricing, execution and analytics offerings to our Downstream Businesses. These currently include Downstream Exposures (DSE), Downstream Pricing (DSP-Shopfront), Downstream Exchange (DSX) and Downstream Analytics (DSA).

In addition to developing and implementing new productivity tools, the team is charged with accurately reporting the global risk position of Trading and Supply Products Price Risk Management and providing high quality quantitative analysis to the Trading and Supply Products Price Risk Management team of commodity traders, working within a network of analysts from other teams.

The role is based in London and reports to the General Manager of the Global Products Derivatives Trading Business. The position will eventually have 3-6 direct reports across Singapore, London and Houston:

a. Digital Solutions Specialists (2-4)

b. Global Book Analyst (1)

c. Quantitative Analyst (1)

The Global Derivatives Business has a turnover of more than $500M per day and employs 30 staff to manage, quote and trade price risk management solutions for our RDS Downstream Businesses and third party industrial clients (over 300 internal and external clients in total).

The Digital Solutions & Analytics Team Leader will be expected to lead a high performing team and:

                     Manage the development, implementation, scaling and maintenance of DSE, DSP, DSX and DSA

                     Develop an in-depth knowledge of Down Steam businesses and look for new digital product developments that create value for the business and maintain a competitive edge in the market for RDS.

                     Ensure a systematic and timely approach to measuring and reporting exposure and position changes in the global books, including the development of real-time position reporting and stress testing techniques

                     Develop a suite of quantitative tools to assist the Options & Deal Structuring Team to evaluate and manage trading opportunities for the DS businesses

                     Integrate the data management processes within Products Price Risk Management with the wider ‘big data’ initiatives elsewhere in DS, to ensure full compatibility of systems and architecture, in order to maximise the speed and efficiency of sharing data around the DS organisation

                     To collaborate with other research teams in T&S and provide high quality fundamental analysis to the Products Price Risk Management trading team

                     Develop a confident and outward looking team that naturally challenges established ways of analysing and solving business problems

                     Display an external mind set and curiosity to keep abreast of new technologies and competitor behaviour, through membership of trade associations and industry consortia.

Requirements

                     A highly creative and focused manager who is comfortable working between business strategy and tactical details

                     A disciplined approach to setting priorities for the team and managing expectations from a number of stakeholders within the Products Price Risk Management team and the wider Downstream businesses

                     Good analytical and project management skills and an ability to manage reports who may be subject matter experts (eg., quantitative analysts, developers, programmers)

                     An optimistic coach and motivator who feels comfortable promoting the efforts of direct reports to create a positive environment that encourages sharing and collaboration.

                     A disciplined approach to building strong business partnerships and a culture of compliance and ethics within the team
