Now, we’re looking for a Workstation Engineer to join our growing IT team. It’s a fantastic chance be creative, while working on some of the most unique and innovative technology in the world.

The role

As a Workstation Engineer, you’ll provide support to our corporate workstations and related teams. It’s vital work, as it helps us, and our customers, make best use of our ICT infrastructure. Depending on the skill set, you’ll provide 1st and 2nd line technical support, and help resolve any incidents and problems. You’ll also assist with change programmes, upgrade and new system installations.

This role is all about contributing to the maximum availability of our corporate ICT systems on and off-site. Which is why you’ll help identify and assist with the implementation of any developments needed. You’ll also help resolve any challenging and complex technical issues that come through the service desk, and cover the Service Desk when needed.

It’ll also be your role to stay up-to-speed with relevant and current technologies, passing on this knowledge to your colleagues. In fact, you’ll often get involved in technology update briefings, and come up with different approaches and solutions that could contribute to your team’s success.

Your profile

To join us, you’ll need good working knowledge of software environments. This involves Windows Desktop Operating System, awareness of Network Protocols, and supporting MS Office. With proven customer service experience within a technical environment, you’ll also be familiar with PC hardware, administration, and troubleshooting operating systems and applications, including PC diagnostics. You’ll also have a background in software functionality, testing and deployment, and of working in formal design and build documentation.

Beyond this, it’s vital you bring a range of personal skills. You’ll be the type of person who thinks creatively, generating innovative approaches and solutions. You’ll also set an example in high standards and values to others, demonstrating integrity and professionalism at all times. This will see you assist and guide any less experienced colleagues. In fact, you’ll encourage positive working relationships, and be able to confidently communicate your ideas and initiatives to a variety of audiences both inside and outside of HMGCC.
