Make our networks even better,
And we’ll make you the best you can be.
Here at HMGCC, we’re a centre of technical excellence. Using world-class tech, we develop unique communication systems to help safeguard the country. Our corporate ICT has now significantly improved their capability, opening up a unique and exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer/Associate Network Engineer to join our growing team. It’s a fantastic chance to get involved in a diverse range of hardware and software products you wouldn’t find anywhere else.
The role
As a Network Engineer, you’ll join a team that designs, implements, supports and manages all data and voice networks at HMGCC. It’s a crucial role, where you’ll keep up with ever-evolving technologies and process improvements. That way, you can anticipate new trends and technologies relevant to what we need, and develop new tools and monitoring techniques to improve the network’s effectiveness and efficiency.
Working with the Network Engineering Manager, you’ll help implement and manage network monitoring tools. This will see you achieve the most effective use of network infrastructure equipment, and provide management information to support and enhance proposals. It’ll also be your role to support day-to-day liaison and strategic planning with our customers through the use of new technologies and techniques. And you’ll play an important role in delivering a secure, functional network infrastructure.
As a member of an IT Department responsible for delivering high quality services - you’ll use best practice recommended in the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). You’ll also get the chance to mentor less experienced Network Engineers.
Your profile
Experienced in a variety of vendor or manufacturer hardware, such as Switch, Router and Firewall, you’ll be a Cisco CCNP, or have equivalent knowledge. You’ll also need a background in network management and monitoring tools and applications. And you’ll bring a proven track record of customer service delivery within a technical environment. Because of this, you can communicate ideas with credibility to a variety of audiences both inside and outside of the organisation.
However, you’ll also come with a range of personal skills. These include the ability to assist and guide less experienced colleagues, question assumptions and consider a problem within its context. In fact, you’re a creative thinker, who can generate innovative approaches and solutions. Organised and proactive, you also plan ahead, involving others when needed. This will see you set, and meet, clearly defined objectives and deadlines, and keep customers up-to-speed with any progress.
Rewards
In return, you’ll take advantage of our creative environment and world-class training. And by helping ensure our Government’s communication systems are reliable and totally secure, you’ll receive the tools and development to become the best you can be.
