Developer - ITSM

Working Pattern: Full Time, Fixed-term contract for 18 months

Hours: 36 hours per week

Salary: Grade G-H (£27,801 - £36,372 per annum)

Our internal service desk is crucial to the smooth running of a number of essential services throughout the council. Ensuring that it is easy and straightforward to report ICT issues that arise allows timely and effective response with minimal disruption. We are now looking for a new Developer to ensure that our service desk is as efficient and effective as possible as well as being completely fit for purpose.

We have a programme of enhancements planned for our service desk system and the successful candidate will join a small team working on the implementation of these. They comprise enhancements to existing and creation of new workflows/objects and forms in order to expand the use of the system to service areas outside of ICT such as HR, the creation of queries, reports and dashboards, and major improvements to the user experience in general. You’ll also provide ongoing support, assisting with troubleshooting and fixing defects.

You will work closely with other key stakeholders, IT managers and other colleagues across the shared ICT service, devising, planning and implementing a range of creative solutions.

About you

This role will require you to build a strong understanding of business requirements and develop an appreciation of the wider goals and objectives of the programme. This will allow you to contribute from an analytical perspective. You’ll also need excellent communication and organisational skills.

We’re looking for a talented individual with previous development experience with web-based applications and, ideally, in a service desk system. However, if you have previous development experience and the ability and enthusiasm to learn quickly, then we would love to hear from you.

Additional experience in any of the following, whilst not essential, would also be a distinct advantage:

-Designing and/or administering a service desk system (preferably Ivanti Service Desk) in an application support or development capacity;

-HTML;

-Web development with IIS;

-SQL;

-Crystal Reports and/or Xtraction;

-Python, BOO and/or general scripting;

-Any programming language(s) such as C#, Java, Javascript;

-ITIL.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to get involved in other Digital projects and programmes across ICT in parallel with the service desk work. We are therefore seeking candidates with the interest and enthusiasm to participate in these wider activities.

Here at Kingston and Sutton, we want people who share our forward thinking and innovative approach to our work. We’re looking for talented professionals who thrive in a creative atmosphere and want to work on the forefront of dynamic service delivery.
