Working for the UKs leading Engineering Support Services Organisation based onsite at RAF Brize Norton the Solutions Architect will be responsible for working with the customer to define requirements and to provide cost effective technical solutions. The Solutions Architect will then work with suppliers, including the internal IT department, to implement these solutions and embed them into the business. A close working relationship with the Business Development Analyst and Project Manager will be required to provision new technologies and services into the customer as a revenue generation activity. Examples include; enhancements to the new suite of applications, Electronic flight bags, Down-route communications and other cost saving, revenue driving opportunities.

The Solutions Architect must have a grasp of many IT technologies so that the most effective solution can be identified across a wide spectrum of requirements. Alongside technical expertise the successful candidate will be expected to drive innovation and change and be able to build excellent customer and supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

* Manage internal and external relationships to ensure the requirements of contracted projects are developed into cost effective solutions

* Develop strong customer relationships built on trust and openness to maximise future business opportunities.

* Consistently ensure that the solutions provided ensure IT systems maintain 99.9% availability.

* Liaise closely with Project Manager to understand contractual and financial elements.

* Lead the Technical Design Authority and technical team members in the integration of Company and third party systems and equipment.

* Day-to-day technical oversight including, risk identification and management.

* Maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle

* Ensure that through life support capabilities are defined and in place, following service delivery.

* Generating internal and external change impact assessments.

* Act as the focal point for all technical activities associated with the contract.

Key Skills

* Extensive experience of working on IT Projects - Mobilisations, software upgrades, hardware refreshes. Projects that span multiple IT disciplines and areas

* Experienced IT professional, focussed on being a part of a cost effective and efficient Infrastructure programme management team

* Technical qualifications e.g. MCSE, CCNA

* Proven knowledge and experience of implementing and delivering large IT projects in complex environments

* Demonstrate knowledge and experience of developing technical solutions for large scale complex projects

* Understand business drivers and the impact if not delivered

* Experienced in UNIX/LINUX

* Experienced in Network engineering
