Experimental Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Data Systems Software Design Engineer to join our Derby facility.

In this role you will work on a wide range of Test Facility Measurement, Control and Configuration systems across the Civil Aerospace business sector.

The Design Team provides a key function within Experimental Engineering and will be responsible for producing software and system solutions for products and services that support Rolls-Royce's core aero-engine products through-out their lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities:

* Instrumentation diagnostic tools that enable improved test-bed utilisation by finding faults during engine assembly (i.e. Build Shop Test Equipment).

* Definition of standards and selection of communication technologies for future engine test networks, for projects such as TEDS (Test Execution Data System).

* Development of bespoke intranet-based web applications using ASP.NET/C#/T-SQL.

* Aircraft to engine controller interface communication and simulation systems.

Qualifications:

* Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering or other IT related discipline).

* A strong background in software engineering and associated languages (C/C++ or C#/Java).

* Demonstrable knowledge of requirements capture/analysis, system architecture design and code production.

* Previous experience with application and adaption of existing systems for specialist measurements.

Experience in the following would be an advantage:

* Real Time and Embedded Operating Systems (e.g. Linux RT, QNX, Windows CE).

* Electronics hardware or system design knowledge.
