The City of London Corporation supports the heart of one of the world’s most exciting cities. The area is also home a diverse range of businesses and residential communities with its proximity to the design quarter in Clerkenwell, Tech City and strong connections to the wider Square Mile. This exciting initiative which is key to unlocking the areas true potential and turning it into a creative and cultural destination for London and the UK. Combining everything from exhibitions and events to art installations and pop-up gardens, this thrilling collaboration with our partners - the Barbican, London Symphony Orchestra, the Museum of London and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama - is resulting in a series of innovative events that continue to make the most of the world-class talent on our doorstep.

As the Manager of this colourful initiative, you will coordinate all core areas including communications, community engagement, programming and events, learning, marketing, partnerships, property and public realm. Managing relationships with the leads of each of these departments, you will take responsibility seeing to it that the Cultural Mile achieves its full potential and that all events are delivered within budget. Making the most of the resources and finances available to you, you will find solutions to problems as they arise and ensure we are providing full value-for-money across the entire programme. Building relationships that are beneficial to the Culture Mile (including those with public, private and third-sector organisations), you will ensure stakeholders remain involved throughout, and that they are working towards the same aims.

This is a unique role in which you will operate autonomously to facilitate the efficient day-to-day running of the Culture Mile. While you will have the full support of the Director, you will have the confidence to troubleshoot problems independently. A natural leader with good team-playing qualities, you will command trust from all stakeholders thanks to your background of working in or with cultural organisations, with knowledge of operating in a political environment. In particular, you will have experience of leading high-profile strategic projects with the relevant methodologies in which you have delivered the desired results. Communication is key to this challenge, so we will expect you to have great IT, verbal and written skills, with the capacity to prepare presentation materials and other documentation for high-level internal and external meetings. It would also be ideal if you have a degree-level qualification and an understanding of local government approval processes.
