This company is a leading supplier of interactive public information and vehicle monitoring systems working closely with Local Authorities and public transport fleet operators all over the UK.

They are in the process of expanding their operation and have a vacancy for a Software Support Engineer. Working from their Ashby-de-la-Zouch offices as part of the IT and Software Support Team, you will be involved in solving problems and monitoring systems used by company staff and customers alike.

Roles and responsibilities are:

- To provide 1st and in some cases 2nd line software support to a variety of customers

- Internal IT support to all company IT users

- To provide analytical support to developers and other departments

- Continuous improvement of the quality of software support services

- Performing studies and diagnostics on data to highlight patterns and errors

- Support existing systems, as well as helping with migrating to new and improved systems

- Take ownership of issues and perform root cause analysis.

- Provide timely progress updates to customers and management

- Assisting in software testing as required

Essential skills required for this role are:

- A close attention to detail

- A positive attitude and commitment to quality

- An ability to work unsupervised, under pressure and meet any required deadlines

- To be able to prioritise workload

- Strong verbal and written English skills

- To have good customer and colleague relationship skills

- A proactive attitude towards your work

- Good knowledge of networking (IP, Ports, DNS, DHCP, Etc.)

- Good understanding of Microsoft Windows XP, 7, 10, and variants

- Experience in remote management

- A personal interest in Technology and the desire to learn within both business and personal time

Desirable skills required for this role are:

- A minimum of 12 months in a computing support role

- A good understanding of IT software and hardware systems

- Experience working with a support ticketing system

- Practical experience of Microsoft Windows Server, all versions

- Practical experience of Microsoft SQL, all versions

- A formal qualification in an IT related discipline

To integrate into the company resource structure, the successful candidate will be also be required to:

- Carry out housekeeping tasks on IT infrastructure

- Participate in occasional weekend system monitoring work

- Participate in a weekday rota system providing services from 7:00AM to 7:00PM
