About the Job

An exceptional and highly unusual opportunity for an experienced Systems Administrator with strong Linux Admin experience, together with good knowledge of FreeNAS, to join a successful, technology based R & D company who develop software and systems used in highly complex software/hardware engineering development environments for both internal and external customers.

You will oversee 2 other Sys Admin Engineers and will support Linux-based IT infrastructure with state-of-the-art computing systems (and some elements of Windows) and also work on the development of products and services that are based on Linux, FreeNAS, and Cloud (AWS) technologies.

The role is very varied, but will include:

      •     Designing and implementing internal and client based Linux clusters

      •     Maintenance of internal IT infrastructure, services and networks

      •     Establishing and maintaining business continuity procedures (backup, disaster recovery etc)

      •     Building and modifying bespoke hardware systems

      •     Set-up and deployment of virtual machines, workstations, and servers

      •     Providing general technical support

Additional experience which would be highly valuable includes:

      •     Knowledge of Linux (particularly Red Hat Enterprise)

      •     Knowledge of networking (Linux Networking - iptables, VPN) and some of IGMP, OSPF, RIP, BGP, PIM

      •     Competent programming using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc

      •     Switch and Router configuration - JunOS, IOS

      •     Understanding of virtualization technologies

      •     Knowledge of NFS, DNS or LDAP
