The Linux Systems Administrator / Technical Support Engineer Opportunity:

We are seeking Linux oriented Service Desk and Technical Support Engineers whose role it will be to manage an array of hosted customer servers and services based around the LAMP stack via high level remote and onsite support.

The position will require close working with the team in all levels of technical support and engineering from installation and configuration through to ongoing maintenance and proactive management.

Key Responsibilities:

+ To resolve incidents and problems both directly from customers and through technical escalation

+ To use existing skills and knowledge as well as appropriate support resources to identify resolutions to customer incidents

+ To implement fixes and solutions where appropriate either via discussing directly with customer, via email, via remote control or onsite

+ To administer customer networks as part of managed services provision

+ To provide proactive problem management though checking manufacture websites

Skills and Experience:

+ Linux Systems Administration experience, especially installation and management of services based around the LAMP stack such as Postgres, Exim, MySQL, Postfix, Apache, Tomcat, Nginx, HAProxy

+ Vast experience in a customer facing environment

+ Knowledge of server hardening and security principles and networking fundamentals including firewalls.

+ An understanding of RedHat/Debian installation and configuration experience would be an advantage

+ Basic understanding of ISO/BSI and ITIL frameworks

+ Basic understanding of working with Service Level Agreements

Please note - Shift work will be required.
