Systems Engineer, Sysadmin, Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, VMWare, Jenkins, NAS

A Systems Engineer is required for an excellent contract opportunity with an innovative Oxford University start-up. The Systems Engineer will be joining a highly technical and motivated team and will get to work with the latest technologies. Ideally the new Systems Engineer will have an in-depth background in Windows Server and VMWare infrastructure as well as proficiency with network data security and management. As the new Systems Engineer you will be tasked with developing and delivering unique software for keeping the company’s network, computers and storage secure and running efficiently.

The Systems Administrator will have a strong understanding of the following:

                                                   Linux and Windows administartion

                                                   Windows Server Active Directory infrastructure

                                                   VMWare virtual infrastructure

                                                   Atlassian developer tools stack

                                                   Jenkins build infrastructure

The following are desired for this Systems Administrator / Infrastructure Engineer role:

                                                   On premise servers in a machine room and HTCondor cluster.

                                                   Synology Rack Stations and Blackpearl S Series tape back up

Specific experience with all of these systems is not a requirement; we are looking for a proficient generalist with the right attitude and work ethic to fit in with the team. Roles and responsibilities will include some user support, installing, upgrade and monitoring of software and hardware and maintaining patch levels. The Systems Engineer will be entrusted with looking after the Dataset, The Systems Engineer will day to day be working with the Systems Team, The Research Team and the business team.

This role is commutable from High Wycombe, Reading, Aylesbury, Bicester, Northampton, Abingdon, Wallingford, Witney, Newbury and Swindon.
