Responsible for the successful creation and development of test documentation (e.g. Test Plans, Test Specifications, Test Scripts) associated to various test phases (including system integration, system of system testing, and engineering validation) during the product test lifecycle.

Principle Accountabilities

Accountable for systems verification and validation engineering activities, as directed by the Marshall V&V Manager, to ensure conformance to the requirements and whether the system satisfies its intended use and user / customer needs.

Responsible for delivery of related test documentation, including test plans, test scripts, test reports and other associated test documentation.

Preparing and implementing Test Plans, Specifications and Scripts for the integration of new or upgraded systems into the MoD infrastructure whilst ensuring they meet the relevant functional and safety requirements.

Support the acceptance and review of supplier test documentation (including witnessing supplier test activities) to ensure the delivered systems satisfies all requirements whilst maintaining project milestones.

Define test requirements and design tests to satisfy requirements.

Perform testing at required test phases (e.g. OIT, SAT, SoS, etc.) for one or more systems

Diagnose test failures and provide results and recommendations.

Maintain test tools and test environments.

Support the maintenance of the Marshall VCRM

Develop a good working relationship with the supplier and the customer in order to achieve the acceptance of the delivered system

Qualifications and Skills

The job holder is expected to hold, as a minimum, qualification to HNC level in an Engineering related discipline (or an equivalent/higher qualification, preferably a Degree) and have relevant engineering experience.

Experience in the engineering aspects of large real time systems, preferably in safety related environments and / or Air Traffic Management Systems (ATM).

A good working knowledge of the Engineering Product Development Lifecycle and the V&V process.

Good understanding and experience of the production of test documentation to a high standard within agreed project timescales.

Experience of one or more major, or family of, NATS systems and system/test engineering disciplines, broad knowledge of other NATS and external systems, with a good overall appreciation of NATS systems as a whole.

Experience of high-integrity systems is required with an emphasis on System Integration Testing and Systems of Systems testing within large scale multi-disciplined systems.

The post holder must be able to work closely with other team members as well as liaise with suppliers and customers to ensure that the V&V Test Assurance activities are clearly communicated and opportunities exist for 2-way discussion and feedback.

Influencing skills to support negotiation with customers and suppliers.

The post holder must be able to communicate both orally and in writing and understand and critique test artefacts written by others.
