What you’ll be doing
We are currently looking for a true technology enthusiast to join our Digital team and help grow our DevOps practice as we transform into a Digital first organisation. This is a particularly exciting time to be joining us as we embark upon an ambitious five year strategy. As part of this we will be leveraging innovative technologies and introducing fully integrated cutting-edge digital solutions to ensure that we deliver maximum value for Consumers and our employees.
As our Senior DevOps Engineer you will spend the majority of your time working on a elastic beanstalk multi-container docker based architecture practicing modern DevOps techniques across the full development life cycle. In addition to docker we make use of numerous other AWS services including EC2, RDS, Route53, ElastiCache, API Gateway, Lambda, VPC, Elasticsearch, WAF and CloudFront. The application technology stack is also fairly diverse and includes Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, NodeJS, Redis and MySQL.
As part of the ongoing digital transformation program you will also be involved in the implementation of several key enterprise technologies including a new CMS, a Salesforce CRM system, and a Single Sign On solution.
You will be joining a fun and supportive team, and sharing knowledge and collaboration are core team values; we will expect you to contribute your own ideas and expertise at all stages, and hope that you will be able to work with us to shape our DevOps processes and drive improvement. We are big on investing in and developing our employees and will also work with you to develop your skills so that you excel in your role.
What we’ll need from you
Although ideally we are looking for candidates that have prior experience working as a DevOps Engineer at a senior level we will also consider exceptional candidates that are able to demonstrate a real ambition to progress, and have proven success in a development or operations role. We ideally want someone who really loves technology and has a real interest in following DevOps trends and new practices.
You will definitely need to have prior experience of AWS and Docker and a solid knowledge of Terraform would also be desirable. An in depth understanding of the HTTP protocol and a background in building high-availability distributed systems with horizontal scalability would also be beneficial.
What we’ll offer you
We believe in getting the best out of people, and our newly refurbished modern working environment is relaxed and friendly. We have a subsidised canteen with access to its own roof terrace - the perfect place to enjoy your two free healthy lunches offered each week. There are excellent benefits including 28 days annual leave, private healthcare, and award-winning pension scheme (and the usual’s...flexible working, Cycle to Work, season ticket loan scheme, childcare vouchers, etc). We even have a private section of Regent’s park which is handy for hot summers and team building events!
An AWS certification sponsorship scheme will be available to all devops employees should you want to become a qualified engineer or architect. This is an ideal role for somebody who wants to move up and progress their career to the next level within the devops and infrastructure architecture space.
