A Head of Architecture is required by my public sector client. The Head of Architecture will be responsible for the strategic alignment of technical design and architecture. The Head of Architecture will have extensive and demonstrable experience of Cloud technology and experience in creating architectural diagrams and technical design. The Head of Architecture will be required to get a BPSS check.

The Head of Architecture will have the following duties and responsibilities:

                     Have responsibility for, and a deep knowledge and understanding of, all aspects of Architecture.

                     Realisation, driving consistent implementation and championing innovation and best practice.

                     Responsible for strategic alignment of technical design and architecture to meet business growth and direction.

                     Advise on, manage and implement the agile delivery of digital solutions, providing technical guidance, mentoring and training in agile technical delivery and evolutionary software architecture, bridging the gaps between outline technical architecture and working solutions.

                     Lead the building of a culture of continuous delivery and improvement, ensuring key systems are regularly analysed, maintained and improved.

                     Act as the technical authority in meetings with other government departments, and oversee the evaluation technical proposals from external suppliers.

                     Set a high technical standard in Architecture Realisation across the department.

                     Act as a strong advocate for digital solutions and approaches across the department.

                     Clarify and articulate the diverse requirements of users and delivery partners to support effective delivery of a service.

                     Deliver digital services that meet the Digital by Default Service Standard before they are launched.

Key Knowledge and Skills:

                     Extensive and demonstrable experience of Cloud technology spanning at least two Cloud providers

                     Demonstrable experience of creating architectural diagrams and technical design

                     Knowledge of security and networking technology as is applicable to Cloud environments

                     Experience of working in a large scale organisation with operating models and associated continuous improvement
