Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Developing; maintaining and documenting appropriate plans and controls for the project/programme in line with the departments Change Lifecycle/Agile delivery methodology
* Ensuring the appropriate governance disciplines are observed Reviewing project and supplier documentation and plans to highlight any issues that may compromise delivery
* Facilitating resolution of project issues and mitigation of project risks Maintaining project documentation
* Making a constructive contribution to project management processes
* Making effective use of the departments Change Lifecycle; MSP Agile standard processes and other required standards
* Produce project documentation eg plans
* Manage dependencies; assumptions and other controls
* Arrange; prepare materials for; facilitate; chair and document meetings
* Monitor and report on progress
* Define project resources including staff; contractors Assure plans; project controls and progress reports
* Manage QA processes
* Demonstrate learnings achieved on the project
* Track record of successful delivery in an equivalent role with equivalent level of responsibility in complex Projects
* Knowledge of industry standard methods and tools egMSP
* Experience of working successfully with staff and representatives from business teams to deliver business change initiatives
* Experience of working successfully in large; complex organisations
The postholder will work within the Programme Management Office, with specific responsibility to:-
* Develop and assure planning standards, processes and templates for projects within the Programme;
* Develop, maintain and document a high level strategic plan, including dependencies and RAG status against key milestones) for differing tailored audiences to support decision making at programme level;
* Develop, support and maintain detailed and highly structured plans (including phase/stage planning and critical path analysis) to control the individual projects within the Programme;
* Capture key risks and dependencies in the planning schedules to reflect into programme controls and reporting;
* Provide detailed reporting on progress;
* Produce and maintain documentation and guidance on planning best practice at project and programme level;
* Landscape scan and provide planning futures controls projecting ahead for potential impacts, recommending detailed contingency actions to the senior team;
* Provide a lead on the strategic planning for the programme using traditional methodologies and Agile;
* Lead on regular planning review and development sessions;
* Act as programme coach and adviser on planning.
