IT Infrastructure Designer

Poole, Dorset

£35,637 - £41,926 (dependent on experience)

Our client is the charity that saves lives at sea. They are driving fast paced, transformational change that is allowing them to save more lives in new and innovative ways. Their lifeboat crews and lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them to support them to save lives at sea. And this is where you come in…..

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Infrastructure Designer to join our client’s IT Solutions team.

As the IT Infrastructure Designer, you will be responsible for business engagement, translating business requirements into technical solution designs, and providing technical ownership of solutions from the design phase through to Production.

You'll create technology roadmaps that support the IT Strategy and ensure technology solutions on which our client’s business depends are fit for purpose, resilient, highly available, secure, and scalable. The role includes architecture governance, co-ordination and translation of business requirements, as well as design, planning, configuration, optimisation and enhancement of the technology and system platforms.

Our client is looking for someone with expert knowledge across at least five of the following:

- Windows infrastructure and respective operating systems

- Networking and connectivity (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, reverse proxies, routing)

- Enterprise Security (firewall configuration, IDS/IPS, encryption)

- Virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V)

- Microsoft SQL database and/or Oracle database technologies

- Cloud platforms, features and capabilities including providers such as Azure and AWS

- Office 365 applications, concepts and architecture including: Exchange Online, Skype for Business, OneDrive, Identity Management and SharePoint Online

Our client’s ideal candidate will have experience in designing infrastructure solutions that balance requirements for performance, scalability, security, user experience, resilience and cost, while being a great communicator, with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to persuade and influence at all levels.

If you have the necessary qualities, skills and experience, and want to be part of an organisation where your efforts will help save even more lives, then our client would love to hear from you.

Please note, the closing date for this role is the 8th April 2018.

Our client’s staff and volunteers have been saving lives at sea without prejudice for nearly 200 years. They respect and value diversity of background, skills and perspectives within their teams, and consider it essential to help them deliver a world-class lifesaving service. They are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from everyone. In addition to having the skills needed for the role, they also look for applicants who share their commitment to living their values (trustworthy, courageous, selfless, and dependable), and helping work towards their goals of halving drowning in the UK and Ireland by 2024. This involves a growing commitment to preventative action, using expertise to work in partnership with communities locally, nationally and internationally to prevent drowning.
