Location: Gosport, Hampshire

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £440.00pd

Clearance: SC Clearance required

My Client is looking for a Server Support Specialist who will support the Virtual UNIX Team.

Under minimal supervision, provide support of distributed computer systems/designs and develop integrated solutions through tools, processes and procedures.

This person will be based on the Client site is Gosport for an initial 6 month project.

Role Description:

* Provides technical expertise for distributed systems and environments. Infrastructure specialist able to undertake midrange HP-UX infrastructure and Operating System support and administration for customer secure environments (Production, Development & DR). This role requires excellent skills in HP RP, blade server and virtualisation technologies, including problem solving, new implementation and a working knowledge of HP SAN with network technologies.

* Participates in requirements definition, specification, design, development, and integration of various UNIX systems and on projects to ensure services adhere to customer specifications.

* Tests, integrates, maintains, and addresses incidents and problems related to UNIX systems for smaller sized projects, using appropriate resources.

* Provide configuration management, inventory management, fault management, and trouble management support on already established Infrastructure. Supports maintenance and upgrades of the Infrastructure platforms.

* Performs risk and consequence assessment for projects; assists in identifying cost reduction opportunities to safeguard company and client interests.

Main Responsibilities:

Provide build and administration of AIX & Linux platform infrastructures capable of supporting Client systems, including configuration management and inventory management support tasks. Supports periodic patching, maintenance and upgrades of products.

Typical Outputs and Deliverables:

Coordinates with other technical staff on the account in providing appropriate levels of support for all customer services.

Perform technical and application compatibility tests to ascertain levels of integration and support- ability.

Occasional site visits to remote data centres for implementation and support.

Essential Skills:

* 2+ years' experience of AIX administration tools and Linux server hardware builds.

* Virtual server technologies.

* ORACLE Enterprise Linux (OEL) & IBM AIX Administration

* Data Protector

A good working knowledge of the following: -

* SAN technology

* Networking
