My Public Sector Client require an experiences Information Governance Manager to join their organisation urgently.

The Information Governance Manager is a member of the IT Governance and Business Support team in the Programmes, Planning & Governance department and will work with managers and colleagues within ITMS and across the organisation to ensure that the organisation is compliant with its obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998, the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Environmental Information Regulations 2005, the General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable legislation and best practice.

The responsibilities of this role encompass:

*Owning the preparation and monitoring of information governance

*Ensuring the organisation understands and complies with all regulatory bodies relating to information governance and security

*Acting as the organisations subject matter expert regarding information governance

*Managing information governance risks and incidents

Essential:

*Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

*Relevant profession information governance qualification or equivalent professional experience

*Significant experience in information security and related legal requirements around privacy and freedom of information.

*Good experience of design and implementation of IT audit and regulatory compliance practices

*Experience in managing investigations, incidents and breaches regarding data loss/ compromise in a complex organisation of significant size, including the conduct and decisions of individuals

*Experience of developing and implementing policy, strategy and audit to meet information security and governance requirements

*Experience in effective risk management.

*Experience in providing professional advice to senior managers in a complex organisation of significant size

*Extensive knowledge of Information Security legal requirements including:

**Data Protection Act/General Data Protection Regulation, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Impact Regulations

**records management

**IT security

**IT governance.

*High level of personal integrity with the ability to handle confidential and otherwise sensitive matters professionally and with the appropriate level of judgement and maturity

*Good leadership and management skills with the ability to:

**deliver effective security and governance in a complex IT environment

**drive small projects using the organisations standards and procedures

**support a culture of continuous improvement.

*Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills, including the ability to:

**Proven ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences from developers to the board of directors

**train, mentor,and coach IT and business staff to meet the changing needs of the University

**influence, motivate and focus a group of people to achieve agreed corporate goals.

**focus decision making on proactive monitoring and action to ensure reduced risk to the University

*Ability to take the lead in specific areas of expertise for the organisation and ITMS

*Demonstrable ability to develop and comply with policy, standards, procedures and processes within the area of responsibility, and work effectively with little supervision.

*Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability apply flexible and innovative approaches to problem resolution.

*Excellent customer service skills, with an ability to work consultatively whilst ensuring a consistently high standard of service
