Full-time/part-time

Cheltenham (located within an hour’s journey of Birmingham and Bristol)

At GCHQ, we unlock the complex world of communications to safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from threats. Think cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organised crime. For you, it means extremely varied and meaningful work that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Our Project Management Office (PMO) is crucial to our success. We work collaboratively with a diverse range of teams to deliver unique projects. As a Project Control Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our PMO, supporting high-value activities that keep our country safe.

You’ll collate data and report back to the project team. This will involve ensuring adherence to agreed project tools (e.g. finance, planning, risks and issues); organising and managing the project heartbeat; providing guidance on PRINCE2 and Agile methodologies (training will be provided), and supporting and co-ordinating key projects and project lifecycle meetings.

We’re looking for people with experience in a PMO, who will thrive in a multi-team environment. Accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent organisational and communication skills are vital. With the ability to identify and troubleshoot problems, you can also draft reports and persuade and influence stakeholders at all levels. At a more senior level, you’ll also provide expert advice and guidance to your team. The PMO continues to evolve to meet our changing business needs, so you’ll need to be comfortable with change.

Our inclusive and supportive working environment is designed to encourage open minds and attitudes. We’re committed to providing a healthy work/life balance that enables you to perform to the best of your ability. At GCHQ, you’ll work on the most unique projects and enjoy comprehensive development opportunities. You can look forward to tailored training, coaching and mentoring to fulfil your potential, both personally and professionally.
