LSE is a cosmopolitan community in the centre of London focusing on the study of the social sciences. With a centralised delivery model IT Services provides information technology and communications services to 15,000 staff and student users. We are currently looking to recruit a motivated individual to fill a key technical role.

LSE is seeking to recruit an experienced IT systems professional to join the Systems Team to deploy and support a number of Microsoft Windows based enterprise security improvements for LSE’s Windows domain client and server estate.

The candidate will be able to

· Convey relevant technical and operational information to team colleagues and operational managers as required.

· Adequately document server and systems configuration in order to comply with relevant IMT, and LSE policies, and/or other regulatory, compliance and disaster recovery best practice.

· Migrate desktop PC patching to a more reliable automated update mechanism or platform, such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), to provide more robust patch deployment and improved reporting.

· Evaluate and deploy application vulnerability checking and update management software with the capability to analyse the patching level of applications and generate / push out update bundles.

· Identify any Windows servers suitable for auto-updating, where not already in place and manage the implementation of auto-updating, with centrally enforced configuration for the auto-updating of Windows servers.

· Develop and deploy a centrally managed mechanism for disabling out-of-date protocols, e.g. SMB v1, for new and existing servers, and for Windows domain clients.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
