South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is seeking to appoint a visionary IT leader to the role of Executive Director of IM&T. You will shape and deliver an innovative, customer-focused IT and Communications Strategy aimed at delivering an excellent user-experience to our patients, staff and partner organisations. A board-level leadership role the IM&T Director will build progressive relationships with peers both in and outside the organisation and deliver organisational value through the intelligent use of contemporary, efficient IT systems and solutions.

The Trust is an immensely fast paced and progressive organisation employing more than 4,000 staff. We have 95 ambulance stations, two clinical control rooms, six air ambulance bases and two Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART).We provide a wide range of emergency and urgent care services across a fifth of England from Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in the West right through to Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. SWASFT is the primary provider of 999 services across the South West.

The Role:

-Conceive, shape and deliver an aligned IM&T strategy which meets the evolving demands of the organisation, through effective, and efficient, use of information and communication technology. You will then go on to own the subsequent successful implementation and adoption of the IM&T strategy.

-As a member of the Board the post holder is expected to contribute fully to the development and delivery of Trust strategy and the efficient and effective management of all aspects of Trust services and to undertake a corporate role for the Trust. Build positive, transparent relationships with key stakeholders of all levels. Stimulate, influence and manage demand for contemporary IT Services and initiatives.

-Provide strong functional leadership to the IT function. Build teams of highly competent, customer-focused technology practitioners. Embed a culture of pro-active, outcomes focused excellence in customer service.

The Candidate:

-You will have significant strategic level information technology experience, ideally gained in a fast paced, communications driven environment with a distributed workforce. You will have the ability to understand the needs of the Trust and a proven track record interpreting wider organisational goals and translating them into aligned, deliverable IM&T strategies.

-An outstanding, positive communicator with the ability to pro-actively build relationships with a range of stakeholders, up to and including board level, both internally and across the wider health economy.

-An excellent people leader, able to inspire and enthuse technology staff. Able to form cohesive teams, create a shared vision for IT functions and instil a customer focused culture.
