Senior Hardware Design Engineer

Purpose of role

In charge of Network on Chip specification, configuration and deliverables for a given SoC deveopment.

Propose new methodologies to increase efficiency and quality in the delivery process, as well as optimising delivery cycle time.

Responsibilities

- In charge of Interconnect (Network on chip / bus fabric) specification, architecture, performance analysis, implementation and RTL generation, in collaboration with SoC architecture and Front End integration teams.

- Involvement in the complete SoC architecture, specification, design and development cycle

- Technical interface to the 3rd party NoC IP and tool provider. Working with the provider to monitor road-map specification and implementation / deliveries.

-Communicate with, influence and support SoC architecture, design, verification, validation, test and product engineering

- Applies judgment in interpreting results and conducting quantitative analysis.

- Will be engaged in maintaining a high quality in their work.

- Should be able to coach junior designer and support them in all the domains of a design activities including but not limited to Coding, rules and clock-crossing domain checking, debug complex AMBA based toplevel / module level simulations, synthesis, DFT, links to back-end (floorplanning)

- Should be able to contribute to technical white papers.

- May contribute to sales support as part of a team.

- Should be capable of maintaining accurate time keeping.

- Should be self-disciplined in executing design tasks.

Key relationships

Working alongside: Architects, Design Engineers, Senior Consultants, Principle Consultants and Project managers

Supervises: Junior team members on requests

External

- Customers - technical engineer to engineer (minimal)

- Suppliers : main technical contact for interconnect 3rd party companies.

Qualifications

Essential Desirable

A degree/masters or PhD in either a relevant subject Masters or PhD in a related subject but with 10 years practicable experience.

Skills & experience

Essential

- Typically 10+ years’ experience. Guided by program or project objectives

- Input skill set one or more of the following:

- AMBA protocol (AXI / ACE)

- Synthesis using either Synopsys DC or Cadence RC

- Experience of Formailty or Formalpro

- Timing reports analysis

- Performance analysis

- Serves as an independent individual contributor to technical project

- Demonstrates capability as a problem solver with an ability to work individually or as part of a team

- Evaluates issues and defines solutions as part of a team or takes the lead in solving the issue.

- Broadens cross disciplinary knowledge through new assignments

- Develops and presents technical white papers."

Desirable

- SoC architecture understanding

- Cache coherency understanding

- Applies advanced knowledge of a single sub-function OR thorough knowledge of multiple sub-functions

- Tcl, Perl and or Python, SystemC,
