About The Online Analytics and Optimisation Team

The Online Analytics and Optimisation team sits within the Online Product department, and looks after Tesco's online businesses. The Analytics and Optimisation team is responsible for providing insight and learning to the wider Product, Trading, UX, and Commercial teams to use data to inform key business decisions.

Main Responsibilities

The Role - Associate Online Customer Analyst

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role's key responsibilities and measures:

* Analysing customer performance to identify and understand trends and make recommendations for opportunities to improve effectiveness at driving acquisition, retention and loyalty of customers

* Working directly with business stakeholders to develop actionable insights and helping to prioritise these actions with marketing, trading and content managers

* Measuring the effect of different customer investments and business decisions by developing the most appropriate methodologies

* Developing and building analytical models to help predict our customers' future behaviour and make tactical recommendations to improve future quality

* Work with key stakeholders and business planning teams to set targets and define KPIs

* Developing and maintaining analytical data processes to create and provide relevant data for our online product, propositions and trading teams

* This role will best suit an individual who enjoys working as part of a team, is well organised, pragmatic and a lateral thinker with an inquisitive mind who is motivated to make change for the better and, most importantly, puts our customers first.

Ideal Candidate

Key Skills and Experience

You'll need to have demonstrated experience of:

* Experience in communicating analytical findings in a simple way

* Ability to breakdown problems into analytical questions and articulate the value of own solutions

* Numerate degree

The following would also be advantageous:

* Knowledge of some of our key analytical tools and languages (eg SQL, hadoop, R, Python, Spark, Alteryx etc)

* Knowledge of visualisation tools such as Tableau would be advantageous

* Knowledge of adobe, google analytics, web tracking would be advantageous

Personal

* Flexibility, ability to plan and organise, responsiveness, creativity, self-starter

* Able to build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership

* Ability to demonstrate strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organisation.
