Brighton & Hove City Council is recruiting to a number of IT and digital roles.

Brighton & Hove is a vibrant, digitally innovative and connected city, at the heart of its city region and at the centre of a number of local and regional initiatives with public, private and 3rd sector partners, offering opportunities to engage with a variety of stakeholders and partners and really make a difference to people who live and work here.

The Council is well into a multi-year programme of organisational modernisation, including renewal of core IT platforms and infrastructure, digital innovation and many business change programmes and projects in which IT is a key partner. We are also establishing close ties with East Sussex County Council and Surrey County Council through the Orbis partnership, which provides professional and technical support services for its partner organisations.

This is an exciting time to join our team. We are an ambitious and forward looking IT department with skills in a range of enterprise technologies and digital delivery practices. Working in a fast paced environment, in the heart of the City and close to the seafront, these roles offer great opportunity for gaining substantial professional and technical experience.

This critical role will work from within the Enterprise Architecture team to provide technical solution designs for new and changing systems. You will need broad experience across ICT disciplines with technical expertise in infrastructure and application management. You will be working with subject matter experts across the department and with the business to analyse, specify and document solutions in line with our standards and architectural principles. The role combines technical knowledge, documentation and communication skills to provide this consultancy service and gives the opportunity to provide significant benefit to projects and programmes.

In addition you will work with senior architects and other colleagues across the department to maintain and develop our architectural repository and practice. You will also be expected to represent the department at partner and external technical forums.

If you feel you are a good fit for one or more of the roles we are advertising, we want to hear from you. We do not accept CVs so please submit an application for each role you wish to be considered for. Please read the application pack carefully and ensure that your response addresses each point in the Person Specification, with examples.

As part of Brighton & Hove City Council’s ongoing commitment to redeployment, please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process, without prior notice if a suitable redeployee (internal employee at risk of redundancy) is identified.
