The Security Manager participates as a key member of the Platform & Operations Leadership team to ensure the Security of our services and business is maintained at all times, and that the Security agenda is built in to our technology and operations by design. The role operates alongside functions such as Availability Management, Capacity Management and Release & Deployment Management, and across Product teams including Enterprise Compute and Cloud Native Infrastructure. There is no direct line management accountability, but the role is highly influential and will be driving initiatives and improvement outcomes across all areas and will be expected to report and advise the senior leadership team on key decision areas. The role requires a high level of industry and technical experience and knowledge.

About this role

- Delivering highly effective and business aligned Security Management activities across all UKCloud products to ensure that our platforms are built, tested and delivered in a manner that ensures the appropriate levels of Security are consistently applied, verified and executed within our infrastructure, software and processes. The role will ensure that the highest levels of customer experience and service are delivered at all times through the effective execution of Security Management.

- Ability to be hands-on to technically demonstrate and implement best practice.

- Security Management will be driven by key external compliance and industry requirements to ensure that we meet our commitments to ISO and other Government certfications.

- Drive the Security Agenda across all teams such that all infrastructure and software services and products are designed and operated with Security in mind

- Embedding Continuous Improvement practices across the Platform & Operations to ensure that Security continues to meet business and customer expectations including vulnerability and penetration testing and Security Audit and review

- Proactively review ongoing and future risks and issues in the industry, and make appropriate recommendations for technology and process improvements

- Own the Proactive Monitoring Service and promote it’s adoption across all areas and with our customers

- Reporting of Security metrics and schedules and providing insightful Management Information to enable data driven decision making around our risk profile and our asset and resource investments

- Close collaboration and co-operation with the Office of the CTO (OCTO) and their extended team, IT Security Officer and Senior Information Risk Owner, and to drive coherent and consistent decision making

- Work with the wider organisation to identify and deliver process and service improvements which have a tangible benefit to Security

- Schedule and management of appropriate Audits and IT Health Checks

IT Security | CISSP | ITIL | Security Management | Business Improvment

Essential Requirements:

- Demonstrable Security Management technical skill and experience in a highly complex and demanding business environment.

- Experienced IT Security professional who has hands on operational experience of a high pressure and high complexity environment.

- Likely to hold CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and have extensive experience in the implementation of Security and Risk - Management, Asset Security, Security Engineering, Communications and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment and Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security

- Strong ITIL/Service Management background

- Breadth of Technical skills across UKCloud technologies including VMware, OpenStack, Storage, Networking and general ability to challenge, probe and question technical experts

- Strong influencing skills to achieve desired business outcomes

- Knowledge of Business Improvement Methods

- Embrace change, seeking continuous improvement through interaction.

- Agree common purpose, providing direction, and clear remit, and empowering team(s) to work together across functions.

- Strong written and oral communication. Systematic and organised

- Ability to prioritise workloads, working under pressure and produce high quality
