Job description - Data Manager
Proforest is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and quick-learning Data Manager to lead on the development of data management systems for the organisation, and to support on data analytics projects.

About the role
This is a great opportunity for a postgraduate (e.g. Masters) with an interest in the sustainability arena who is looking to build a career in data management. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the full lifecycle of projects and support colleagues and clients with innovative and high quality solutions. Based in Oxford, this role works with colleagues in all our regional offices to provide support to the organisation globally. The successful candidate will lead on the development and maintenance of spatial and non-spatial databases, the development of front-end tools as forms and dashboards, and produce regular and ad-hoc data insight reports.
Key responsibilities
- Lead on the design, development, and maintenance of spatial and non-spatial multiple-user online accessible data management systems
- Lead on the development and maintenance of front-end dashboards, forms, and other tools to facilitate the interaction with data management systems for non-technical users
- Assist in the design, development, and maintenance of mobile apps for field data collection
- Explore and review new analytics and dashboard tools and where appropriate advice on new solutions that can improve the effectiveness of the project management teams and the organisation as a whole
- Liaise with relevant staff throughout the organisation to understand requirements and support project specification development
- Develop documentation and training material for applications
- Train relevant staff in the use of applications whenever needed
Minimum requirements
- Postgraduate qualification (e.g. Masters) in a relevant field (Information Systems/Technology, Computer Sciences, Data Engineering/Management, Data Analytics), preferably with a strong background in a GIS relevant field (e.g. Computer Sciences, Data Engineering/Management, Data Analytics / Insight Management)
- 2-3 years of relevant practical GIS development experience
- Extensive experience in the development of spatial and non-spatial data management systems and front-end tools as forms, reports and dashboards
- Extensive experience with GIS software systems as ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro is required, knowledge of QGIS is considered as a strong advantage
- Ability to generate relevant insights using data analytics and visualisation solutions
- Strong coding ability, including excellent knowledge of database programming languages as SQL and C# is necessary. Knowledge of other languages as Python, .NET, VBA, Java, Android, PostGreSQL, and/or PostGIS is considered as an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with the development or use of workflows for integrating (spatial) databases with mobile apps is considered as a strong advantage

Salary and other benefits
Salary range: GBP 30,000 - 35,000
