The University of Leeds is seeking to appoint an inspirational leader with a track record of shaping, transforming and delivering improvements in the provision of Information Technology across a large and complex organisation. The Director of IT will take a hands-on role in leading the IT team in the development of a customer focused, fit for purpose IT Service that is both pragmatic and innovative in its approach. The University has ambitious plans to meet the diverse needs of Leeds’ student, teaching & learning and academic research communities. The role of IT Director is fundamental ensuring we deliver against our aspirations.

The Role:

- Deliver a high-performing, professional, coherent and consistent IT service, which is easy to engage with and has a reputation for outstanding delivery creating genuine competitive advantage to the University

- Provide strong functional leadership to IT, fostering a one-team ethos, driving clarity of responsibility and process, plus an absolute focus on customer service and customer outcomes

- Operate as a senior leader across the University, fostering positive relationships with key professional services and academic stakeholders. Stimulate, shape and manage the demand for IT Services

The Candidate:

- With significant exposure to complex information or knowledge driven industries, you will have the ability to understand the needs of a truly diverse business plus demonstrate experience of shaping responsive, high performing IT functions.

- Politically savvy and an outstanding communicator, you will have the ability to proactively build relationships with a range of senior stakeholders both across the University and in wider industry

- An excellent people leader, you will have the proven ability to enthuse and galvanise large IT teams. You will have created shared visions of the future and inspired and implemented modern, professional IT working practices
