Is ‘password’ your password? The 25 worst passwords for 2015 revealed

In this day and age of online crime and increased cyber security, it's important to keep your personal details safe and using a complex password can be a good way of doing that.

Last year, we saw a variety of different news stories relating to companies and organisations having their systems compromised, resulting in various personal data and customer details being stolen. Therefore, cyber security has been a key focus for a lot of businesses and recent efforts have included reviewing their own security efforts by hiring online experts and emailing users to change their password.

The majority of websites usually prompt users to ensure their passwords are complex and use a combination of capital letters, numbers and special characters. Although it can be hard to remember, the chance of someone guessing your password is a lot less likely.

However, even with news of companies and individuals being hacked, it appears that there are still a lot of people opting to have very, and I mean very, basic passwords.

SplashData, a password management firm, has compiled a list of more than 2m passwords that were leaked during the course of 2015. The point of the list was to find the worse passwords that most people used that year. And unsurprisingly, some classic and very awful passwords made the list.
