University of Sussex - Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (BSc):

The University of Sussex offer this course that runs over three years and requires potential students to obtain at least an AAB at A levels. “Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at Sussex explores the scientific basis of intelligence in animals and machines.” Sussex offer the opportunity to tailor the modules to the student’s preferences, taking either the technology or cognitive science route. 

The skills obtained by students on this course can be transferred to a variety of industries ranging from Public Relations to telecommunications. Furthermore, the University of Sussex boast an impressive stat, stating 92% of students who graduated in 2016 were in work or further study six months after graduating.

Oxford Brookes University – Computing for Robotic Systems (BSc):

Oxford Brookes University offer a three year course that enables students to get onto the course via getting a minimum of BBC at A Levels (112 UCAS points), or for BTEC students DDM. “Computing for Robotic Systems provides the opportunity to develop highly marketable skills in the key areas that define modern robotics.” The course covers a range of useful workplace skills including computing, robotic engineering and the integration between them.

The careers prospects for students who graduate with this degree leaving Oxford Brookes are promising with graduates finding jobs in a number of industries. As careers in robotic systems continue to grow rapidly, the opportunity for graduates from this course is large.

University of Manchester – Artificial Intelligence (BSc):

The University of Manchester offer an Artificial Intelligence course that runs over three years, and requires a minimum of three A’s at A levels for potential students. “By combining the study of artificial intelligence and traditional computing techniques with an understanding from psychology of how humans learn, these degree programmes prepare you for a career applying computing in challenging applications.”

Opportunities for students graduating with this degree are vast, including the potential to enter the financial, film, healthcare, consumer products and public service industries. Large multinational firms including EA, Microsoft and IBM target graduates with this degree.

University of Nottingham - Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence with a year in Industry (BSc):

The University of Nottingham are offering a four year course that requires potential students to obtain AAA at A levels (or AAB if A levels include computing/computer science). “This course is designed to offer both a general understanding of computer science as well as specialist skills in artificial intelligence.” In the third year, students will go into a year in industry to give students workplace experience thus expanding their skills.

94% of first-degree graduates in 2015 in the School of Computer Science secured work or further study within six months of graduation. The average salary for these graduates was £26,574, which peaked at £42,000.

University of Edinburgh - Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics (BSc):

The University of Edinburgh are offering this four year degree that takes place in their Science and Engineering College, the course typically requires AAA at A levels. “New uses are being found for mathematics in every area of AI and where existing mathematics is not up to the task, new kinds of mathematics are being invented. The Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics programme aims to reflect these developments.”

Graduates from this course have excellent careers prospects. The large majority make use of their qualification and enter the IT industry to help develop traditional methods.

Aberystwyth University - Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (BSc):

Aberystwyth University offer Artificial Intelligence and Robotics as a three year course, which requires possible students to obtain at least a BBC at A levels. “Artificial Intelligence and Robotics involves the development of artificial systems, and is becoming increasingly relevant in commercial and domestic life.”

99% of graduates were in work or further study within 6 months of finishing university. That is 9% more than Computer Science graduates nationally.

Master’s Degrees in Artificial Intelligence:

UCL – Machine Learning (MSc):

The entry requirements for this masters degree is at least an upper second-class UK Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative subject such as computer science, mathematics or engineering. Moreover, potential students must be comfortable with linear algebra and calculus

The University of Essex will consider all students who apply with at least a 2:2. As part of this masters you focus on linking artificial intelligence techniques to real-world applications and projects, including artificial intelligence in business and financial applications, artificial intelligence in games, biological sciences and medicine.

The University of Essex state that this course “opens up employment opportunities designing intelligent software – in banks and businesses designing prediction systems, in computer games companies designing adaptive games, in pharmaceutical companies designing intelligent systems that model a given drug and its various interactions, and in heavy industries designing control system.”
