Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

These roles offer a unique perspective on regulation within the energy networks, and will suit an analytically minded individual who can engage well with internal and external stakeholders. The roles have a broad remit that will demand expertise in analysis and the ability to bring an innovative approach to designing new policies and leading change within the energy sector. Our RIIO teams play a key role in economic regulation, ensuring that gas and electricity network companies provide value to customers, and that energy consumers benefits from the investment required to ensure sustainability of supply. These roles offer an ideal opportunity to build your expertise in network regulation, from both a delivery and a strategic perspective. You will analyse the performance of network companies under the current regulation model, and support the development of the next RIIO price control framework.

You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside subject experts - considering complex challenges and problems, including regulatory, policy and commercial issues, as well as influencing key decisions on incentives within the RIIO framework. It’s an opportunity that demands the ability to understand complex and technical policy, backed up with strengths in analysing and utilising data, concepts and models. Good communication skills are essential and it’s important that you can tailor technical material to different audiences. You should be able to bring both a strategic and creative perspective to solving complex problems, and take the initiative in managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines. We also expect that you’ll be degree educated or that you can demonstrate equivalent expertise through experience.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

Up to 30 days’ annual leave

Excellent training and development opportunities

The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits

Flexible working hours and family friendly policies

Subsidised gym (and restaurant in London only)

Interest free season ticket loan.
