The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is an organisation that promotes fair competition, within and outside the UK, to support economic growth and protect the best interests of consumers and businesses. Joining us as an Applications Team Manager, you’ll improve the cost, performance, availability and manageability of applications across their full lifecycles. You’ll plan, organise, mentor and control all enhancements to CMA’s major applications, including Agresso, Meridio and Wisdom, and for the implementation of packaged software.

What you’ll do

Engaging our IT Director and the wider business, you’ll manage a pipeline of solutions delivered to multi stakeholder groups. You’ll work with the relevant teams and alongside third party stakeholders to support the development and continuous improvement of application and data architectures, the delivery of solution and manage any operational issues. We’d also like you to take ownership of key IT applications.

Up-to-date with platform and service enhancements, you’ll also know all about the latest technologies and be able to provide suitability assessments to the business. Preparing budgets, defining guidelines, managing the test process and briefing service desk support analysts, you’ll be a true Applications Team Manager, looking after each and every stage of the applications process.

Who we’re looking for

A Chartered IT professional, you’ll be able to show us a proven track record in supporting and maintaining application services to industry standards. You’ll also have demonstrable and practical experience, in the public or private sector, of working with software engineers to develop, manage, maintain and improve application services, within budget and to agreed service levels. We’d also like you to have experience providing expert advice as an ITIL expert, along with experience of application management techniques including testing, release and deployment.

All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days’ leave (increasing to 30 days over five years), favourable consideration of flexible working, and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of childcare vouchers, interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme and our employee wellbeing programme.
