This opportunity at StepChange Debt Charity would suit an experienced Infrastructure Engineer ready for their next challenge. Delivering technical support and maintenance to the charity as a whole including our busy contact centre, you will contribute to large scale project delivery across all technical infrastructure to include; servers, networks, data storage, telephony, contact centre, and desktop estate. This crucial role sits within the Technology Services team at our site, based in Leeds City Centre.  

What you will be doing

You will play a key role undertaking BAU work with regards to security and resilience of the Network Infrastructure, maintenance and configuration of telephony and contact centre services as well as working as part of a project team to deliver large scale infrastructure changes.

Key accountabilities

Install, configure, and support the network, server (physical and virtual), and data storage infrastructure

Manage and maintain network and infrastructure services including support and maintenance of file, e-mail, application, and database servers

Support and maintain telephone infrastructure to include documentation, including configuration of contact centre software

Manage and maintain technical security safeguards including anti-virus and firewalls

Progress incidents and change requests in an efficient and effective manner

Liaise with 3rd party providers in the supply and support of technical services

Maintain hardware & software license databases

Build and install servers and operating systems and maintenance

Implement and release new or upgraded software and services across the organisation

Maintain and monitor system data backups and evaluate alternative approaches to data back up

Experience and knowledge

You'll have a demonstrable passion for Infrastructure Engineering, with the following skills or strong experience in:

Windows Server 2008/2016

Active Directory

MS Exchange 2010+

VMware ESX/Vsphere

LAN/WAN

Load Balancing

Security (anti-virus, firewalls, access control, etc.)

Windows 7/10

experienced at troubleshooting 3rd line technical issues

at least 3 years infrastructure experience

ITIL Foundation (desirable)

CCNA or relevant experience of networks preferred (desirable)

MCSE preferred (desirable)

Office365 (desirable)

Azure (desirable)

SAN storage (NetApp) (desirable)

IP Telephony and contact centre services (desirable)

Skills and abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Flexibility and willingness to take full ownership of issues

Diplomatic but assertive and determined to see the job through
